Detect sim without restarting phone in Android

Detect sim without restarting phone in Android

I am building an android application. I am not inserting the sim card
where it supposed to be(usually beneath the battery). But instead I am
providing an external smart card with sim embedded on it. I am having two
smart cards. I can change the smart cards without removing the battery.
The problem is : when I remove the first card and insert the second card,
I am unable to detect the second card. I have to switch to Flight mode
then back to normal mode, to get the card detected. Or i may have to
restart the phone. Is it possible to do the same without restarting or
switching to flight mode in the phone?
